A minicab driver was told “f*** off back to your own country” and threatened by an angry motorist who claimed he pulled out in front of him.

Mustafa Aptish, 31, was driving along Sutherland Road in Croydon, south London, on New Year’s Eve when he captured the exchange on his dashcam.

A horn can be heard blaring in the video footage before a dark blue Volkswagen Passat pulls in front of Mr Aptish and suddenly brakes, blocking his way.

Mr Aptish, who has worked as a minicab driver for the last six years, can be heard asking the other motorist why he was beeping at him as the man gets out of the Passat and walks up to his driver’s-side window.

The man, dressed in grey trousers with reflective strips near the hems, a navy lumberjack-style shirt and a black woolly hat, replies: “’Cause you pulled out on me. ‘Cause you’re a cabbie c*** and you pulled out on me.”

Mr Aptish, who is originally from Bulgaria but has lived in the UK since 2010, tells the man “listen, I’ve got a camera here mate” and tries to argue he was driving too fast, but he replies: “I don’t give a f***”, and threatens to hit him in the face.

“Because you’re foreign, you don’t understand the rules of our road so f*** off back to your own country, you c***,” the enraged motorist adds, before climbing back into his car and eventually driving away.

In a tweet, Mr Aptish claimed the man was driving at about 35mph in a 20mph zone during the incident which took place shortly before 1.30pm on 31 December.

Speaking to The Independent, the minicab driver, who lives in Bedfordshire, said: “I was scared because I did not know what exactly he was about to do.

“I didn’t have room to move as I was sitting with my seatbelt locked.”

Mr Aptish, who described himself as a calm person, added: “It was a very unpleasant thing to happen. I drive for a living and always try to stay away from such things.”

He said he had reported the man involved in the incident for hate speech.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman told The Independent the incident had been reported to the force.
