Pregnant woman loses baby after being kicked in stomach during racist attack
Police appeal for help in finding man who abused and attacked woman at supermarket
Police are searching for a man who allegedly kicked and pushed a pregnant woman during a racist attack, causing her to lose her unborn child.
CCTV footage appeared to show the man verbally abusing the 34-year-old woman at a Co-op supermarket in Bletchley, near Milton Keynes, before following her to her car and knocking her to the ground.
The victim collapsed after being kicked in the stomach and was rushed to hospital, where she was told doctors would be unable to save her baby.
Thames Valley Police confirmed they wanted to speak to the man in connection with the attack on 6 August, and said a another man had been hit on the head with a bottle when he tried to intervene and save the woman.
In a statement, PC Richard Armitage said: “This racially aggravated assault had absolutely devastating consequences for the victim, who lost her baby as a result of the attack. Our thoughts are with her and her family at this incredibly difficult and sad time.
“A thorough investigation is underway and we would like to speak to the man pictured as he may have information which could help with the investigation. If you recognise the man in the CCTV image or have any information about this incident please contact me via the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."
Both victims have since been discharged from Milton Keynes General Hospital and are recovering from their injuries.
