The partner of a woman found stabbed to death in her home was being questioned on suspicion of murder today.

Police discovered the 44-year-old Latvian dying from her injuries when they were called to a house in Great South West Road, Hounslow, yesterday morning.

They attempted to resuscitate her before paramedics took her to West Middlesex Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7.15am.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 46-year-old man, believed to be her partner, was arrested at the scene and was being questioned today.

The large semi-detached rented property on the edge of Heathrow airport is occupied by eight Eastern European people.

Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command are responsible for the inquiry.

A post-mortem examination was taking place at Fulham Mortuary, in south west London. Officers are trying to contact the victim's family in Latvia.
