A nurse will stand trial today accused of killing his wife and making it look like she died in a car crash.

Brent Mott, 31, from Southport, Merseyside, is charged with the murder of his wife Kate, 35, who was also a nurse.

Her body was found on January 21 in the driver's seat of the couple's Ford Focus which was in a field off a country lane in Scarisbrick, Lancashire.

A post-mortem examination later showed she was strangled.

The couple, who both worked at Southport Hospital, have two young children.

Mott, of Everard Road, Southport, will appear for trial at Liverpool Crown Court at 2.15pm.
