Man and woman arrested after baby boy dies in Blackpool

Emergency services pronounced the newborn dead on Boxing Day

Police have arrested two people after a newborn baby boy died in Lancashire.

A man, 33, and a woman, 30, have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and child neglect, Lancashire Police said.

The pair have been bailed until June.

The emergency services were called to a property on Rydal Avenue in Blackpool at around midday on Boxing Day.

Paramedics then took the four-week old boy to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are treating the death as “unexplained”. A coroner is due to carry out a post-mortem examination tomorrow
