Amber Peat: Mother of 13-year-old girl missing for three days pleads with her to 'come home'

The mother of a 13-year-old girl who disappeared on Saturday has pleaded for her to come home.

Amber Peat went missing from her home in Mansfield after what police described as a “minor argument” about chores.

Nottinghamshire Police have launched searches near the house in Bosworth Street and knocked on doors through the town looking for information.

Breaking down in tears at a press conference today, her mother Kelly Peat said: “If you're watching this, or if anybody knows where she is, just send her home. Please."

She said the family had just returned from a “fantastic” holiday in Cornwall and nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

"We were in the living room, and I heard the front door slam, and that's when I realised,” she added.

"I couldn't see her anywhere - she was just gone.”

Amber’s stepfather, Danny Peat, said the teenager’s disappearance was totally out of character and “doesn’t feel right”.

He described her as a child who “just wants to read”, and “not the kind of girl that would wander off”.

Mr Peat said the family, especially her two younger sisters, had been left “in pieces” by Amber’s disappearance.

“It’s overwhelming the amount of people who are out there searching all night, every night,” he added, thanking the volunteers.

There have not been any confirmed sightings of Amber since she disappeared from her home at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Police said there is “every chance” she is still in the Mansfield area.

Superintendent Matt McFarlane said detectives were pursuing all lines of inquiry, including the possibility that Amber may be attempting to visit her biological father in Scotland.

She is described as white with long dark brown hair, around 4ft tall and of a petite build with brown eyes and a small scar above her lip.

She was last seen wearing a black Puma zip-up top, purple trainers and blue jeans.

Missing persons co-ordinator Kirsty Gittings, said: “Amber, if you are reading this appeal please get in touch with us or your parents. They are very worried about you.”
