Chess king, aged 9
Luke McShane, nine, from Clapham, south London, became the youngest internationally-rated chess player with a draw against Henneke van Parreren, 39, from the Netherlands, in the 17th Lloyds Bank Masters tournament. Combined with previous results it gave him his international rating.
