Firemen attacked with fireworks in Leeds

As Bonfire Night approaches, authorities are ensuring the public is fully aware of the correct use of fireworks. This footage from 2013 has been rereleased by West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue to show what crews sometimes face over bonfire season.

One fireman can be seen extinguishing some flames on the pavement before a group of teenagers emerge from the shadows; one proceeds to fire a series of fireworks at the fireman.

The street is lit up for the next 15 seconds as rockets, bangers and other pyrotechnics are shot at the fireman unable to escape the attack.

The video has been viewed more than 2,500,000 times and has been shared widely in the run-up to Bonfire Night.
