Meet the arts champion who heads up DanceWest

London-based choreographer and producer Rosie Whitney-Fish has an impressive resume spanning 12 years.

Primarily an independent artist, Rosie has worked nationwide and globally with parallel careers in commercial, participatory and educational settings. Her commercial work has seen her touring Australia, Asia and Europe for television, theatre, film, fashion and advertisements.

She has managed programmes for national arts organisations and independent artists and has developed strategies and vision for local authorities, housing associations and arts organisations.

Rosie holds an MA in Dance-Theatre from the prestigious Trinity-Laban. As a choreographer, she has been supported by Barbican, Create London, Arts Council England, Cultural Olympiad and Big Dance.

She has also produced dance project and programmes for Rambert, East London Dance, Southbank Centre, Lilian Baylis and Sadler’s Wells.

One of her current projects is running DanceWest, which is based at the Lyric Hammersmith.

DanceWest is a non-profit organisation that supports West London communities to engage and participate in dance, which Rosie founded in 2014.

One of DanceWest’s biggest annual events is Ignition Dance Festival, which is now in its fourth year. It is held in Kingston’s Rose Theatre, where seven mid-career choreographers get to showcase new work.

Rosie said: “The programme offers something for everyone, a chance to watch bit sized pieces of choreography by seven innovative choreographers.”
