Another week, another astute business move from Taylor Swift, who has made sure she’s the only individual with the right to share pornography in her name.
The 25-year-old singer with the cleanest image in pop has purchased domain names TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult before they become available to buy as part of a public sale by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) set to take place on 1 June.
In a bid to allow easier searches for doctors, businesses and places, a raft of new top-level domain (TLD) names – the last bit of a web address – will become available to buy, including “.healthcare” and “.deals”, but also “.porn”, “.sucks” and “.adult”.
According to Ad Week, a select few businesses and individuals were offered the opportunity to buy addresses based on the new domains before they went on the open market for $2,500 (£1,600).
