From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

She was last seen going on a bike ride in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette on Sunday morning at 06.00am - but police say she is "safe and is no longer listed as a missing/endangered person".
A spokesperson for Wilmette police previously said they were "seeking to check the well-being of Sinead O'Connor".
"A caller has expressed concern for her well-being and no other information is available at this time," they said in a statement.
O'Connor is best known for her 1990 hit "Nothing Compares 2 U" which was written by Prince. She has recorded 10 albums throughout her career.
She has experienced health problems during her career and in 2012 cancelled a tour because she was "very unwell due to bipolar disorder".
A spokesperson for O'Connor said they had no comment.
