From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Scarlett Johansson has expressed her dismay at famous parents who give chapter and verse on how to raise their children.

Taking to News.com.au, the Avengers and Her actor said: “I’m such a newbie at this.”

Johansson added: “I always really hate it when actors or people in the spotlight make giant grandiose statements about parenthood because it’s so, so personal.”

“And I don’t profess to know anything more about parenting than anybody else,” she continued.

Johansson's daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac was born in September 2014. She married her partner, French journalist Romain Dauriac the following month.

Johansson also believes that motherhood will help with her work.

“I think having any kind of huge life-changing event happen to you, such as having children, and it’s such a different life now in the best possible way, is very, very inspiring,” she said.

“I think it will hopefully enrich my work as well as my understanding of myself. That’s the hope anyway, you never know.”
