Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Nick Grimshaw presents 'Freshly Squeezed', a music show on the television channel E4

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...

I need to buy a Hoover so I'd probably be doing that. I've been putting it off.

A common misperception of me is...

People imagine me to be short when I'm actually six-foot-one.

I wish that people would take more notice of...

My personal space. I hate when someone stands too close to you. On the Tube, in the shop.

A phrase I use too often...

I have a new phrase every other day. I use "sick" quite a lot. Or "bare sick".

The most surprising thing that happened to me was...

I went to this club and was having a wee in a urinal and it turned out it was the basin. It was a massive great big fountain: what was I supposed to think? It looked like a urinal.

I am not a politician but...

If I were, I'd be lying to you right now.

I'm good at...

Cooking a meal at someone else's house. I don't really like the cleaning up, so I only cook at other people's houses.

I'm very bad at...

Staying awake anywhere: films, conversations I just fall asleep. I have no attention span.

The ideal night out is...

A big meal with a lot of friends. I love it when it's around 15 people. Then maybe to a pub.

In moments of weakness I...

Eat. I've been known to have four Snickers bars in one day.

You know me as a presenter but in truer life I'd have been...

Maybe a band manager. Or a butcher. I used to really like playing with raw meat. Or maybe I could combine the two.

The best age to be is...

It doesn't matter. I'm friends with anyone. Age is nothing but a number.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:

Chin up, cheer up. It works.
