Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Danziger is co-founder of 'Cover' and has written 11 books. He will judging the Costa Book Awards, with category-winning authors announced next week

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...

Writing up the interview that I just had with a grizzly bear expert at Yellowstone National Park.

A phrase I use far too often...

"Colissimo.2" I've made it up and patented it!

I wish people would take more notice of...

I'm always amazed people don't look around them and see things, for example the moon and the trees turning.

The most surprising thing that happened to me...

Meeting Thayer my very special bird. I interviewed her for my book on the Metropolitan Museum of Art we immediately clicked.

A common misperception of me is...

That I don't appreciate my life, though I really do.

I am not a politician but...

If I was, I would force people not to throw rubbish into the street.

I'm good at...

Being a friend.

I'm very bad at...

Focusing. I find it very hard to organise the different strands of my life and work.

The ideal night out is...

Dinner at someone's home with friends and with Thayer. Hopefully roast chicken with bread sauce, but no one ever makes it any more, although you can buy it in packets and add milk.

In moments of weakness...

I eat chocolate toffees from Marks & Spencer's.
