Many of us have worn our heart on our sleeve at one time or another but Kerrie Webb went further than most last year when she decided to get Nigel Farage’s face emblazoned on her arm as a permanent tribute to the party’s leader.

Following Mr Farage’s embarrassing defeat in the general election, when he failed to win a seat in the House of Commons, Mrs Webb, 38, from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, spent three-and-a-half hours under the needle to demonstrate her support for him.

Mrs Webb, who describes herself as a “moderate fan” of the divisive politician said: “I wanted him to know that, despite everything, people out there really back him.

“I just saw an honest person trying to do good. He’s not a bad person or a racist or a woman-hater,” Mrs Webb insisted.

“Everyone was treating him like some sort of reject. It took me back to when I was bullied as a kid. I don’t mind being known as ‘the lady with the tattoo’,” she added.

Mrs Webb finally met her hero at Ukip’s annual conference in Doncaster in September. “It was hilarious, meeting him. We’re very similar people; we’ve both got a very good sense of humour,” she said of the encounter. “We laughed for about 10 minutes.”

Despite her fascination with all things Farage, Mrs Webb said she has no plans to add any more political inkings. “I think that’s enough – a gigantic face on my arm,” she said.

Mrs Webb explained that her husband Andrew “is not envious” on account of her passion for the Ukip leader – adding that not everybody in the family is so keen on Mr Farage. When asked for her thoughts on the politician, the couple’s nine-year-old daughter Faith described him as “weird”.
