Obituary: Peter Greenham
IN HIS warm and perceptive obituary of Peter Greenham (13 July), Bernard Dunstan mentions three matters which deserve a footnote: Peter's conviction of the importance of drawing, his self-depreciation, and his devoted marriage to Jane Dowling, writes R. E. Alton.
Over the last few years, a number of us, junior or senior members of Oxford University have been privileged to attend a life- class given by Jane (herself a wonderful teacher) at the Ruskin School in Oxford, where, until a month or so ago, Peter was modest enough to come and draw. Thus we too were able to share the 'eye-opening experience' of watching him at work.
