Paul Nowee, writer, died The Hague 30 September, aged 57. Leading Dutch author of westerns. Chronicled the adventures of Eagle Eye in books such as The Haunted Railroad and Eagle Eye and the Gold Rush, selling more than 5 million books in The Netherlands. The character was created in 1935 by his father, Jan, who produced the first 19 novels. After Jan Nowee's death in 1958, Paul took on the series, producing a further 42.
