Nobuyuki Wakai, motorcyclist, died Seville 1 May, aged 26. Killed in an accident during practice at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez de la Frontera. Made his debut in the Japanese Grand Prix in 1990 in the 125cc category. He moved up to the 250 cc category this season.
