Your support makes all the difference.Luis Sttau Monteiro, novelist and playwright, died 27 July, aged 67. A Portuguese writer known for his outspoken criticism of Antonio Salazar's rightist regime. Author of the novel E Se For Rapariga Chama-se Custodia ('If it's a Girl We'll Call Her Custody'), which he wrote while serving a one-month jail sentence in 1961. His play Felizmente Ha Luar ('Fortunately there is Moonlight', 1961) - popular with underground theatre groups - was chosen to celebrate the reopening of the National Theatre following the 1974 coup.
