Did Nicki Minaj 'drag' Melania Trump?

Known for her animated rap style and unflinchingly forthright lyrics, Nicki Minaj does not hold her tongue on the stage. In turn, the rapper decided to turn her attentions to one of the fiercest presidential races in recent memory.

In an expletive-ridden rap, the 33-year-old musician and business magnate rebuked Melania Trump - the third wife of the Republican presidential candidate.

“'Cause you are so f**king weak, y’all got the audacity to be intimidated by a bad motherf**king queen and get your motherf**king feelings hurt,” Minaj mused on stage on Saturday at Brooklyn's Tidal X 1015 concert.

“But it’s O motherf**king K, because Barack needed a Michelle, b*tch, and Bill needed a motherf**king Hillary, b*tch. You better pray to God you don’t get stuck with a motherf**king Melania."

Minaj has since responded to her lyrics and said she was not “dragging” her into matters but instead insisted that Ms Trump seemed “nice”.

Ms Trump, a former model from Slovenia who studied design and architecture at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, has been frequently glimpsed throughout the presidential campaign but heard somewhat less.

Nevertheless in an interview with Harper's Bazaar published last month, she said: “I have my own mind. I am my own person, and I think my husband likes that about me.”

If Ms Trump were to become the first lady, which is looking increasingly unlikely right now in terms of poll figures, she’d be the only first lady who is the third wife of a president and the first to be born and raised in a communist nation, according to Carl Anthony, historian at the National First Ladies' Library.
