Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Peaches Geldof feels like a vampire.

The 21-year-old socialite - whose mother Paula Yates died of an accidental heroin overdose when Peaches was just 11 - admits she has experienced tough periods which have made her feel older than her years.

She explained: "There have always been periods that have been a struggle, but I feel like everything has definitely been fated. Sometimes it's difficult, because I feel like a vampire. Like, with people my own age, sometimes I feel like Edward Cullen from 'Twilight', only less good-looking. A less good-looking, slightly fatter Edward Cullen! I feel, like, so old sometimes and it makes me feel jaded."

Peaches - whose father is singer and activist Bob Geldof - also admitted she feels "upset" by how "obnoxiously" attractive her boyfriend Thomas Cohen is.

She told heat magazine: "You know when you have, like, an obnoxiously hot boyfriend? When they're just ridiculously hot and you're jus the obviously subordinate partner? It's so upsetting.

"I just feel like I have this ridiculously fit boyfriend and I'm just like, 'Raah!' in the corner. Personality-wise, I feel like we're a good match, but sometimes there's an obviously fitter partner. "
