From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Miriam Gonzalez Durantez fell awkwardly on Saturday and broke her left elbow.
She was treated at the Accident & Emergency department of Kingston Hospital in south west London, a spokeswoman for Mr Clegg said.
Mr Clegg had taken a day off from electioneering on Saturday as the couple spent time with their three young sons, whose return from a holiday in Spain had been delayed by the volcanic ash cloud.
Antonio, eight, Alberto, five, and one-year-old Miguel had been staying with Ms Gonzalez Durantez's family when flights were grounded.
A spokeswoman for Mr Clegg said: "Miriam tripped on the way to the shops on Saturday.
"Later she was in pain so went to Kingston Hospital A&E where it was discovered she had fractured her elbow."
Ms Gonzalez Durantez, who is right-handed, now has her left arm in a sling.
It was the second time in recent weeks that Ms Gonzalez Durantez has been to Kingston Hospital.
She joined her husband on a campaign visit to the hospital earlier this month.
