If there is one person on planet earth we didn’t think would be calling out Tom Daley for choosing to reveal that he’s gay on the internet, it was hyper-flamboyant former X Factor contestant, Rylan Clark.
But the TV star, who romped to victory clad in feathers and fake tan to be crowned the winner of Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, was less than excited by the diver’s news.
Instead, he complained about the attention Daley received, calling the surrounding furore over his coming out “a bit over-done”.
“Not to take anything away from Tom, it is still hard to come out, but I haven’t come out as gay yet I don’t think,” The Sun quotes Clark as saying.
“What about people like Alan Carr, Gok Wan, Graham Norton and me – people who are on TV who have never hidden their sexuality?
“What do we get? We don’t get recognition.
“Good luck to Tom. I hope he is happy but I just think it's a bit over-done.”
Daley has been showered with messages of support and praise for making the brave decision to tell the world he was dating a man, who is strongly rumoured to be Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
Among his celebrity well-wishers were Lady Gaga, Billie Jean King and Clare Balding.
Meanwhile, Daley’s family and friends used Christmas Day as the perfect opportunity to show their support.
Daley posted pictures of the rainbow themed gifts and wrapping he received on Instagram. One particularly ‘liked’ image involved the athlete posing in nothing but a 'gay icon' apron.
