Lady Gaga tweets her support for Kesha after she loses bid to be freed from Dr Luke contract

Lady Gaga has tweeted her support for fellow singer Kesha after the star lost the court case that could have freed her from a contract with record producer Dr Luke, whom Kesha accused of sexually abusing and psychologically tormenting her.

Lady Gaga wrote: “There are people all over the world who love you @KeshaRose. And I can say truly I am in awe of your bravery.”

Kesha, whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert, signed a contract with one of Dr Luke’s companies in 2005, according to court papers. She was 18 years of age.

The dispute with Dr Luke has stalled the young singer’s career as she is contractually prevented from recording music with another company, but Kesha says she “cannot work” with the man whom she says is a “monster”.

Her lawyers say that the abuse caused the development of an eating disorder and suicidal thoughts which led to two months spent in a rehabilitation clinic.

Dr Luke denies Kesha’s allegations, labelling them as “untrue and deeply hurtful”, and claims she is making the accusations in order to get out of her contract early.

Several other celebrities tweeted their support for Kesha, including Ariana Grande, who said “My heart is with @KeshaRose” .

American singer songwriter Halsey said she was “Disgusted by anyone in power positions abusing their authority.”
