Justin Bieber ruptures eardrum after deliberately throwing himself off a cliff

Sadly though, his injury won’t be preventing him from singing to us in the future - despite the fact he probably can't hear himself doing so

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If anyone was going to be injured after deliberately hurling themselves off a cliff, it was going to be Justin Bieber.

The singer was left potentially needing surgery for a ruptured eardrum after he attempted to leap into the sea from a particularly high piece of land.

"Busted my ear drum cliff diving," he told his followers on Twitter. "Doc says might need surgery now. Sucks."

Sadly, though, not being able to hear himself sing won’t be preventing him from doing so in the future.

"My ear drum might back us up a little but I'm still bringing you this new music," he commiserated.

"Much love. Damn u cliff diving!"

And it wasn’t the first time he’d voluntarily thrown himself off a cliff, either.

Last year, he worried fans after being photographed tombstoning from a high ledge in Kauai, Hawaii.

In other bizarre Bieber news, the star is about to release his latest collaboration... with David Hasselhoff.

The pair appear together in the Knight Rider actor's new film, Killing Hasselhoff, and were seen tearing around Venice Beach, CA in a Kitt replica.

"We had a lot of fun and he's a cool guy," the Hoff told People magazine. "We're just keeping it quiet because it's really cool."
