From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ennis is one of the event’s many ambassadors and had previously said that she’d miss the games while she awaits for the arrival of her first child.
However, Reggie Ennis-Hill is already here; the athlete shared the news on Twitter this morning.
The Olympic champion married long-term boyfriend Andy Hill at a private ceremony in Derbyshire in May last year.
Ennis has assured fans in January that she will be returning to work after having the baby and will participate in the 2016 Olympics.
"My plans for 2014 have been completely turned upside down, but having had a couple of weeks to think about things from a career point of view I am 100% set on returning to full time athletics once our baby is born and go for a second gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016 - that challenge really excites me,” she said.
"But in the short term I will make our baby a priority and enjoy the whole experience as much as possible."
