From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Former model Christy Turlington Burns said on Sunday that the actor had promised he'd take part in the race if she completed the 26.2-mile course in under four hours.
But she smashed the four-hour mark, coming in at three hours 45 minutes, leaving Clooney the option to either enter next year's lottery or sheepishly back out.
"Thinking about George running a marathon and having a good night's sleep before the race will help my time," Turlington Burns said before the race.
She added: "The moment I cross the line, I want to go for a pint."
However, a representative for Clooney told The Independent that the quotes had been taken out of context. They said: "George congratulates her on the marathon and the incredible work she's done for her charity."
Maybe 2017 will be his year.
