From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. FKA Twigs has apparently never watched a film from the billion-dollar grossing franchise The Twilight Saga, despite being in a relationship with its star, Robert Pattinson.

The singer, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, has been dating the actor since September 2014. But Twigs said she eschewed the “fame world” and had not bothered watching the vampire series that made him a house hold name.

“I don't understand what the levels [of fame] are,” she told The Times. “I’m a bit naive. I don’t read Heat, for example. I don’t engage in that world, even with myself, even with my own career.”

The 27-year-old, who was paradoxically described as one of the most “emotionally sensitive" and "pretentious” people her interviewer had ever profiled, also claimed it is “so bad to be basic” and follow the crowd and insisted that she was not like a “packaged pop star”.

“If someone makes me feel weird about myself, then I just stop talking to them,” she said. “I walk away all the time.”

Twigs also revealed was regularly subjected to a barrage of racist abuse from Twilight fans on Twitter after her relationship with Pattinson came to light, many of them calling her a “monkey”.

However, she said such abuse failed to have a negative impact on her life, adding: "I don’t feel anything any more. I’ve only cried once over it.”
