The US political editor of the Daily Mail has reportedly been interviewed for a position in Donald Trump’s administration.

David Martosko has been tipped as a contender for his team, according to a report by Politico.

A former public relations man, Mr Martsok joined The Daily Mail in 2013 after two years at the Daily Caller.

But although his name has been mentioned in relation to the job, in November, the President-elect’s spokesperson Hope Hicks denied he was being considered for the role.

The report comes after Mr Trump’s transition team announced Tesla executive Elon Musk had joined his advisory council.

A spokesperson for Mr Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Other people tipped for the role include Republican National Committee communications director Sean Spicer, conservative talk radio host and Fox News contributor and staunch Trump supporter Laura Ingraham and Washington Times opinion editor and Fox News contributor Monica Crowley.
