4 February: The Queen this afternoon visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn, and, having been received by Her Majesty's Lord- Lieutenant for Norfolk (Mr Timothy Colman) and the Chairman, King's Lynn and Wisbech Hospitals NHS Trust (Sir Julian Loyd), toured the hospital escorted by Mr Barry Starkey (Chief Executive, NHS Trust).

The Lady Susan Hussey, Sir Kenneth Scott and Major James Patrick were in attendance.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

4 February: The Prince Edward, President, the Lord's Taverners, this evening attended the 'Gary Lineker Evening' at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London W1.

Mrs Richard Warburton was in attendance.

4 February: The Princess Royal, Honorary President, Chartered Institute of Transport, today attended the International Council Meeting, Jury's Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin, and was received by Her Majesty's Ambassador at Dublin (His Excellency Mr David Blatherwick).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Waitangi Foundation, accompanied by Commander Timothy Laurence RN, this evening attended the Premiere of The End of the Golden Weather, MGM Cinema, 135 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2, and was received by the New Zealand High Commissioner (His Excellency the Hon George Gair).

ST JAMES'S PALACE

4 February: The Prince of Wales this morning received the Leader of the Opposition (the Right Hon John Smith MP).

His Royal Highness afterwards received the Chief of Naval Staff and First Sea Lord (Admiral Sir Julian Oswald).

The Prince of Wales, Trustee, this afternoon attended a Meeting of the Board of Trustees, the National Gallery, London WC2.

Miss Belinda Harley was in attendance.

YORK HOUSE

4 February: The Duchess of Kent, Patron, the Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood Trust, this afternoon visited the Paediatric Oncology Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and was met on arrival by Lady Young (Deputy-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire).

Her Royal Highness later officially opened the CLIC Court, the new 'home from home', 87 Jack Straw's Lane, Headington, Oxfordshire.

The Duchess of Kent this afternoon attended a lecture given by Professor David Dilks at Rhodes House, Oxford.

Mrs Peter Troughton was in attendance.

THATCHED HOUSE LODGE

4 February: Princess Alexandra, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief the Light Infantry, this afternoon received Major-General MD Regan, Colonel of the Regiment, Lieutenant- Colonel PR Sharland (5th Battalion) and Lieutenant-Colonel PJ Wykeham, Regimental Secretary.

Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Concert given by the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, London SE1.

The Lady Nicholas Gordon Lennox was in attendance.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Grenadier Guards.
