The following appointments have been announced by the Church of England:

The Rev Barbara Allen, Assistant Curate, Chessington: to be Assistant Curate, Chertsey (Guildford).

The Rev Robin Brown, Curate, St Chad's, Far Headingley: to be Vicar, Hawksworth Wood with Moor Grange (Ripon).

The Rev William Hopkinson, Bishop's Officer for Continuing Ministerial Education and Post Ordination Training (Chester): to be Priest-in-charge, Tenterden St Michael (Canterbury).

The Rev Michael Horton, Assistant Curate, Ulverston (Carlisle): to be Vicar, All Saints, Lightwater (Guildford).

The Rev Toby Marchand, Vicar, Deal St Leonard: to continue as Rural Dean of Sandwich (Canterbury) for a further period of three years.

The Rev David Newton, Rector, Ampleforth with Oswaldkirk and Gilling East: to be also Rural Dean of Helmsley (York).

The Rev Owen Page, Assistant Curate, St Nicholas, Great Bookham (Guildford): to be Vicar, St Augustine's, King's Heath, Northampton (Peterborough).

The Rev Philip Ritchie, Curate, Waltham Abbey: to be Team Vicar, Becontree, St Thomas in Becontree West Team Ministry (Chelmsford).

The Rev John Sclater, Assistant Curate, Linslade: to be Priest-in-charge, Hedsor with Bourne End (Oxford).

The Rev John Tapper, Curate, Ashford St Mary: to be Priest-in-charge, Folkestone Holy Trinity with Christ Church (Canterbury).

The Rev William Taylor, Assistant Curate, Holy Trinity, Washington (Durham): to be Priest-in- charge, St Mary, Heworth, same diocese.

The Rev Tom Thompson, Vicar, St Andrew, Longton, and Rural Dean of Leyland (Blackburn): to be Vicar, Nunthorpe (York).

RESIGNATIONS and RETIREMENTS

The Rev Ian Caldwell, Vicar, St Michael and All Angels, Norton on Tees (Durham): to resign as from 28 February.

The Rev Peter Cianchi, Vicar, Lavendon with Cold Brayfield, Clifton Reynes and Newton Blossomville (Oxford): to retire as from 15 June.

The Rev Don Brewin: to resign as Rural of Aylesbury (Oxford) as from 30 April, and as Team Rector, Aylesbury Walton Team Ministry (Oxford) as from mid-1994: to be UK National Director of SOMA (Sharing of Ministries Abroad).

Canon Peter Fluck, Vicar, Boston St Botolph (Lincoln): to retire as from 30 April.

The Rev David Hart, Priest-in-charge, St Nicholas, Ingrave (Chelmsford): to resign as from 13 March.

The Rev Rayner Harries: to resign as Rural Dean of Mursley (Oxford) as from 23 February, and to retire as incumbent, Great Brickhill with Bow Brickhill and Little Brickhill (Oxford) as from 1 June.

The Rev Michael Heckingbottom, Vicar, Collingham with Harewood (Ripon): to retire as from 30 April.

The Rev David Lambert, Rector, Fotherby group of parishes (Lincoln): to retire as from 30 April.

The Rev Brian Newton, Vicar, Burgh le Marsh group of parishes (Lincoln): to retire as from 13 June.
