Middle East breakthrough
DAVOS, Switzerland (AFP) - Israel and the PLO reported a breakthrough early today in their talks on Palestinian autonomy and said new talks to finalise an accord would be held in Cairo in a week.
The announcement was made by Israel's Foreign Minister, Shimon Peres, and the PLO leader, Yasser Arafat, after two days of discussions. Mr Peres said the talks dealt with many issues and 'we were able to negotiate many of them, maybe most of them'.
