Belfast Castle was evacuated during a function last night, after the IRA said it had abandoned a landmine in the grounds.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the castle, off the Antrim Road, shortly after 10pm, the Royal Ulster Constabulary said. They examined a suspect vehicle in the grounds. Several coded warnings were telephoned to local media.
