UK climbs table for competitiveness
The UK has climbed from 10th to eighth place in the World Economic Forum's annual league table of global competitiveness.
The table is once again topped by Switzerland.
The forum said the UK has benefited from an "efficient labour market" and was praised for having "sophisticated and innovative businesses". The US fell from fifth to seventh place but was still described as the most innovative country for business.
