Business Diary: Jobs's anger over Android

Steve Jobs may be gone, but his legacy lives on and many are keenly looking forward to today's release of a biography of the tech wizard. Some of Apple's rivals, however, will not.

Android was a particular focus for his ire. He told his biographer after the launch of an HTC handset he was "going to destroy Android because it is a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this," adding he would spend "every penny of Apple's $40bn... to right this wrong".

The Occupy Wall Street protesters have attracted an unlikely ally in Dennis Kozlowski, the former Tyco boss who was jailed in 2005 for looting the US conglomerate. From prison, Kozlowski, notorious for the $6,000 shower curtain he bought with Tyco funds, told the Wall Street Journal that he "understand[s] their frustration" and condemned big bonuses at bailed-out banks as "indefensible". It's never too late to repent.

Portas plans to sex up retail

The PM's appointment of Mary "Queen of Shops" Portas to review the retail sector generated much debate. Many would be surprised that the debate has moved to include, er, brightly coloured dildos. The department store House of Fraser, which has a clothing collection by Ms Portas, blocked her request to have such toys in its shops. Analysts at Hewson Group were in Portas's corner, saying retailers had "misread the minds of their most important customers".

Was Turner far too clever?

Lord Turner, the head of the FSA, co-authored a pamphlet in 2002 called Why Britain Should Join The Euro. Now, it seems, he regrets it. "I got it wrong", the peer, left, told The Observer yesterday. "The bit I failed to realise is the issue of eurozone banks ... I wish I'd been clever enough to think of that in advance". But the charge of his critics would be that, on the contrary, he was too clever by half.
