Outlook For all the rises in their energy bills, people are still not cutting back on their Sky entertainment packages. They now spend an average £559-a-year with the company – up £17 on a year ago. Even taking the increasing trend of bundling broadband, telly and phone into one supplier into account, net spending by Brits on home entertainment is increasing.

Companies like Sky are offering new, better products for which people are prepared to pay extra – HD, on-demand, other bells and whistles. Capitalism working, in other words. Utility companies take note.
