GUINNESS PEAT GROUP, the investment vehicle headed by Sir Ron Brierley, the New Zealand financier, has won control of Brown Shipley, the fund management and stockbroking group, in a pounds 5.6m deal.

Kredietbank of Luxembourg, which had been trying to acquire Brown Shipley, sold its 29.9 per cent stake to GPG.
