From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A survey by MoneySavingExpert.com found that 20 per cent of bank customers rated the service as poor (up from 18 per cent in February). While 42 per cent described the account as ‘ok’ and only 38 per cent thought that it was ‘great’.

First Direct topped poll with a glowing feedback after 92 per cent of its customer rated its services as ‘great’ and only 1 per cent said it was poor.

Barclays was not the only one with bad rating. NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland both part of the RBS group performed fell from ninth to tenth and from eleventh to twelfth ranks respectively.

"Our index shows once again the strength of First Direct's service. However, the bottom of the pile is dominated by many high street banks. This should be seen as a stark warning that they risk losing customers if they don't raise their game,” Guy Anker, managing editor at MoneySavingExpert.com says.

More than 9,000 people took part in the survey carried out twice a year since 2008.
