Boxing: New challenger for Hamed's crown

Prince Naseem Hamed will face a different Argentinian opponent when he defends his WBO and IBF featherweight titles at Wembley Arena on Saturday after the original challenger, Pastor Maurin, withdrew through injury yesterday.

Hamed will now face Juan Cabrera, who has been training with Maurin and has a record of 20 knockouts in his 24 wins. The 23 year old is ranked in the top 10 by the World Boxing Organisation, but it will be only his third fight outside his native country, his two previous bouts ending in his only defeats - both through disqualification.

Saturday's fight will provide Hamed with another opportunity to impress the American audience watching the fight live on ABC.

Hamed is eager to unify all four versions of the featherweight title, with possible lucrative confrontations awaiting him in the form of WBC champion Luisito Espinosa and the WBA holder, Wilfredo Vasquez.
