A career review website has compiled a list of the top 50 best jobs in America - and if you went to school for engineering, we have some good news.

According to Glassdoor, the report “ranks jobs according to each job’s Glassdoor Job Score, determined by combining three factors: number of job openings, salary, and overall job satisfaction rating.”

And judging from the list, pursuing any of these jobs will make you some serious money.

The number one job on the list is data scientist. According to Glassdoor, people working as data scientists reported 4.2 out of 5 job satisfaction - and make a median base salary of $110,000. And if data science sounds intriguing, there are 4,524 job availabilities.

Coming in at number two is DevOps engineer - with a reported 4 out of 5 job satisfaction and a median base salary of $105,000.

If marketing is more your speed, third on the list is marketing manager. With 4 out of 5 job satisfaction, a median base salary of $85,000, and over 6,000 job openings, this job sounds like a pretty great opportunity.

Occupational therapist is fourth on the list - meaning you can help people and earn around $74,000. Additionally, the job satisfaction rating is 4 out of 5 and there are almost 12,000 open positions.

And fifth on the list is HR Manager. According to Glassdoor, HR managers have a job satisfaction of 3.9 out of 5 and make about $85,000.

The majority of jobs on the list are for engineers of some sort, with health care and marketing coming in next - and a significant amount have the word "manager" in the title.

But according to Glassdoor chief economist Dr Andrew Chamberlain, that doesn’t necessarily mean creative types should worry.

He said: “Workers with certain technical and soft skills, such as creativity, flexibility and good judgement, are at an advantage across industries, from healthcare to finance to HR, to leverage advances in artificial intelligence and automation. That’s because AI is increasingly complementing these jobs, while not replacing the people needed to do them.”

However, if you find yourself more interested in creating apps rather than playing on them - you are off to a great start.
