This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

AMG C43 Coupe will slot in beneath the C63 model in the upper echelons of the C-Class Coupe range.

With 362bhp and 383lb ft, the C43 will hit 62mph in 4.7 seconds – that’s 0.7 seconds slower than the 4.0-litre C63. It features a 3.0-litre biturbo V6 and the latest 9G-Tronic auto box, in combination with a rear-biased 4Matic AWD set-up.

Its chassis incorporates several features carried over from the C63, including AMG’s Ride Control set-up with three-way adjustable variable shocks. Its brakes are upgraded, too.

Again, the C43’s is styled to be a direct relative of the C63, with unique bumpers, sills, exhaust finishers, grille trims and, naturally, alloys. Inside, the seats and steering wheel are sportier and some of the instruments are upgraded to AMG items.

Prices are yet to be announced, however the C43 will become available in the UK later this year.
