From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Previously known as the FF, the four-wheel-drive four-seater is now called the GTC4Lusso, and it’s marked out by styling modifications such as a new grille with integrated intakes, reworked diffuser and roof spoiler. These are claimed to make the newcomer even more aerodynamic than its predecessor.
The GTC4Lusso’s 6.2-litre V12 has been fettled to produce 651bhp over the previous incarnation’s 680bhp, while maximum torque is 514lb ft. Eighty per cent of that is available at 1750rpm, although the engine doesn’t deliver its full muscle power until much higher in the rev range. The 0-62mph sprint is 3.4sec, 0.3sec better than in the FF, and top speed is the same 208mph as before.
As the Ferrari model to choose for long-distance driving, or motoring in adverse weather conditions, the model’s main appeal is its four-wheel-drive set-up. For the first time, this has been teamed with 4RM-S rear-wheel steering, which is claimed to ‘effortlessly handle the GTC4Lusso’s extraordinary torque even on snow-covered, wet or low-grip roads’.
Cabin updates include a 10.25in infotainment screen plus a dual cockpit display showing essential engine and performance data. The GTC4Lusso will make its debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show, and the price is expected to rise over the current model’s £226,023.
