Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have celebrated the two-year anniversary of their engagement announcement with a never-before-seen photo from their wedding.

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared three photos on their official Instagram page to mark the occasion.

One of the pictures, a black-and-white photo taken by photographer Chris Allerton during the couple’s wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, sees Meghan laughing as she stands next to her new husband.

In the portrait, the duchess is wearing her first wedding dress, a gown designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy and Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara, provided by the Queen. Prince Harry is wearing the Blues and Royals military uniform.

Also included in the anniversary post is a photo from the couple’s engagement announcement and a black-and-white photo of the duke and duchess holding their son, Archie.

The post is captioned: “On this day, two years ago: 27th of November 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the news of their engagement, later becoming Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex!

“They have since celebrated their wedding anniversary and welcomed their son, Archie, into the world.”

The couple is currently taking six weeks off from royal duties for some "much-needed family time," according to People, which means they will not be participating in annual holiday festivities at Sandringham.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month," Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement. "Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the duchess' mother Doria Ragland.

"This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen."
