Love island Danny and Arabella have the David attenborough chat

Love Island star Danny Williams has compared the popular ITV2 reality show to a David Attenborough programme.

For the uninitiated, Love Island is the series where well-groomed single people are sent to a sun-soaked villa in Mallorca in the hope that they will mate and create entertaining television in the process.

Meanwhile, a David Attenborough show – think Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Our Planet – is typically about showcasing animals in their natural habitats, the idea being that they too will do something interesting on camera, possibly even mate.

Perhaps it was only a matter of time until someone made the astute observation that the two are not that dissimilar.

In the case of Friday night’s episode of Love Island, the Attenborough conversation began while Williams was reclining by the pool with Yewande Biala, who he is currently coupled-up with, and newcomer Arabella Chi.

A bird flew down and perched in front of the group.“I think it’s well cool when the birds come down to the pool,” Williams said to the group.

“It’s like some David Attenborough stuff,” he added, prompting him and Chi to gush about the venerated British broadcaster, who turned 93 this year.

Biala, however, confessed that she was not a fan. “I hate watching those,” she said of Attenborough’s award-winning programmes.

“Every single person I know thinks he’s amazing but I find it so bloody boring.”

Chi and Williams continued to praise Attenborough’s voice before Williams remarked: “Can you imagine him narrating Love Island? It wouldn’t be that different to be fair ,would it?”

Naturally, the conversation has elicited amusement on Twitter, prompting “David Attenborough” to trend on the platform.

Hundreds of comments have been made about Biala's shock admission.

"When you were rooting for Yewande and then she slags off David Attenborough," wrote one person, who illustrated the tweet with a face palm emoji,

Many users expressed relief that the broadcaster’s name was only trending because of Love Island, and not because he had passed away.

“Always fearing the worst when seeing David Attenborough trending again but mercifully the man is still going strong! ,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Absolutely s*** myself every time David Attenborough trends.”
