Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse mock breakup rumours with Instagram comment

'Sources say he’s single now – is he available?'

Ever since rumours emerged that Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse had broken up, the couple have regularly poked fun at the speculations and their latest contribution has tickled fans.

In July, it was reported that the Riverdale actors had split up following a two-year relationship.

“Multiple sources” had informed US Weekly that the couple were no longer together, despite no public comment from either party.

Both actors swiftly shut down the rumours by posting images on Instagram of the duo embracing on the cover of the latest issue of W Magazine.

“BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know s**t,” Reinhart wrote in her Instagram caption.

On Tuesday, Variety posted a video of Sprouse on its Instagram page featuring footage from the actor’s cover shoot for the publication.

Reinhart commented underneath the post: “Sources say he’s single now – is he available?”

The 22-year-old actor later deleted her comment, but not before fans took screenshots and her words were featured in a post by Comments by Celebs, the Instagram account that monitors when celebrities engage with other celebrities on social media – yes, somebody really does that.

Reinhart and Sprouse, whose Riverdale characters are in a relationship with one another, have been careful to keep the details of their relationship private, though they frequently post about one another on social media.

On Sunday, Reinhart uploaded a photograph of her boyfriend smoking a cigarette in a sunny location alongside a poem she’d written to mark his 27th birthday.

“I tried to find a poem that I could send to you. Because my words were failing me," the actor wrote in the caption.

"But I searched and found nothing that did you justice. All of these love poems can’t get it right. No one else’s words could ever fit. They haven’t known the fortune it is to love you. -sappy nighttime birthday poem for @colesprouse [sic]."

Reinhart's post garnered 5.4m likes from her followers and thousands of comments, including one from Sprouse himself, who teased: "Follow for follow?"
