Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page denies rumours he’s dating on-screen lover Phoebe Dynevor
Fans have taken to Twitter to ask whether the pair are together
They play on-screen loves in the hit new Netflix series Bridgerton, but it appears that’s the only place sparks are flying between Regé-Jean Page and co-star Phoebe Dynevor.
Page, 31, and Dynevor, 25 - who play lead characters Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton respectively - share such strong chemistry many fans on social media have questioned whether they are together in real life.
However, during a recent interview Page denied rumours that any romance was occurring off-screen.
“I think everything you need to know is on camera,” he said.
“All the sparks that flew came off the beautiful scripts we were handed. So I think that the sparky words, scripts and material are more than enough.”
Bridgerton - which is based on the book series by Julia Quinn - has become a favourite with Netflix viewers after it debuted on Christmas day, quickly becoming one of the most-watched original series on the streaming platform.
Dynevor previously revealed that the “first ever scene” she shot for the series was of co-star Page performing oral sex on her.
Speaking to Grazia, she said: "It was in episode six, where Simon is going down on Daphne.
“And it was so great, because it felt safe and fun: you choreograph it like a stunt, or a dance. It's crazy to me that [an intimacy coordinator] hasn't been there in the past.”
She added: “I love Daphne's coming-of-age story and her sexual awakening. I love… watching her figure it out for herself. She's a late bloomer, but it's not like she can google it.”
Netflix has yet to confirm rumours of a second series, however Production Weekly reports that filming for a project titled "Bridgerton 02" will begin in Uxbridge, England in March 2021, suggesting a follow-up season is in the works.
The show's creator Chris Van Dusen previously admitted that he'd love to make more episodes of the show.
He said: "There are eight Bridgerton siblings [and] there are eight Bridgerton books. So in success I would love to be able to explore love stories and romances for all the Bridgerton brothers and sisters, of course."
