A Day That Shook The World: America attacks Libya
On 15 April 1986, the USA dispatched bombers from their bases in Britain to attack supposed terrorist targets in the rogue North African state Libya.
The bombing was supposed to be military in nature, in response to various terrorist attacks on American assets based in Europe, but they ended up doing more harm than good, mostly hitting civilian targets.
The BBC's Kate Adie reported on the damage resulting from the raids - and her films demonstrated its terrible scale.
Watch original British Pathe footage from the bombing and from Kate Adie's reports above.
