A fundraiser for the woman who went viral for putting Gorilla Glue in her hair instead of hairspray has reached $21,000 (£15,000).

Last week, Tessica Brown, from Louisiana, uploaded a video to TikTok that has now been viewed more than 20 million times, explaining that her braided hairstyle had been glued to her head for about a month.

According to Brown, she used the strong adhesive spray to finish her hairstyle after running out of her usual hairspray.

However, she had been unable to move her hair after having washed it more than 15 times and decided to post the video online in order to ask for support from her TikTok followers.

Brown eventually flew to California to see a Beverly Hills surgeon, Dr Michael Obeng, who offered to perform a $12,500 (£9,000) procedure for free in order help Brown’s hair return to normal.

Now, Brown has received thousands of dollars from strangers via a GoFundMe page she set up earlier this week.

There is no description on the GoFundMe page, only Tessica’s name and a photograph of her in an ER room attempting to get treatment for her hair.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Brown explained she had never intended to discuss her Gorilla Glue ordeal publicly.

“The reason I took this to social media was because I didn’t know what else to do,” she said.

“And I know somebody out there could have told me something. I didn’t think for one second when I got up the next morning it was gonna be everywhere.”

On Thursday, Gorilla Glue responded to Brown’s story on social media, describing it as an “unfortunate incident”.

“We are very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Ms Brown experienced using our Spray Adhesive on her hair,” the company tweeted.

“We are glad to see in her recent video that Miss Brown has received medical treatment from her local medical facility and wish her the best.”
