Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.EA has launched the beta for Star Wars: Battlefront II, which you can play ahead of the game’s full release next month.
It’s was initially only available to people who have actually pre-ordered the game, but anyone can now play it across the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
All you need to do is download the beta from your console's store.
The beta, which is one of the biggest ever distributed by EA, closes at 5pm UK time on 9 October. The company says users should allow “plenty of time” for downloading and installing it.
“Get ready to battle enemies in multi-stage Galactic Assault, take on swarms of AI foes in Arcade, joins squadrons of friends in Starfighter Assault, and maximize your trooper skills in eight vs eight Strike missions,” said EA, which has also promised freebies to beta players.
“Everyone who plays the Beta will receive a specially curated ‘Founder’s’ Crate filled with goodies as a thank you from the developers, including credits, an exclusive emote for Darth Maul, and a rare trooper Star Card to give them a head start in battle.”
Battlefront II succeeds 2015’s Battlefront, a modern reboot of the 2004 classic. The original Battlefront II came out in 2005.
Battlefront II takes place from the point of view of the Empire, specifically that of Iden Versio.
Unlike its predecessor, it supports both single- and multiplayer modes, and you can also play as classic characters such as Luke Skywalker, Rey, Darth Maul and Kylo Ren.
Battlefront II comes out on 17 November.
