Netflix is testing price increases for customers in Australia.

The company raised prices by as much as $3 AUD for a number of users, as part of a trial.

Netflix has confirmed that the test is limited to Australia, but hasn’t yet revealed any of its findings.

Initial reports from The Australian and News.au claimed that the prices rise only applied to users looking to sign up to the service on weekends, but Netflix has denied this in a statement sent to the The Independent.

“We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time,” said the company.

“In this case, we are testing slightly different price points to better understand how consumers value Netflix. Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer it generally.

“Reports that we are testing 'weekend-only' pricing are inaccurate and entirely false. As our statement clearly states, this testing varies in length and time and the fact that some members saw this test on a weekend is completely unrelated. This test is limited to Australia only.“

According to News.au, prices for some customers in Australia rose from $8.99 to $9.99 per month for the Basic plan, $11.99 to $13.99 for the Standard plan and $14.99 to $17.99 for the Premium plan.

Hackers recently leaked unreleased episodes of Orange is the New Black, which appeared to have been stolen from Hollywood-based audio post-production company Larson Studios.

It’s also threatening to leak “hundreds of GBs” of unreleased media from a number of shows including It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and New Girl.
